Hyderabad Student Killed in US Shooting, Telangana Government Assists in Repatriation

A 24-year-old student from Hyderabad was tragically shot dead in the United States, sparking shock among the Indian community abroad. The Telangana government has stepped in to coordinate with Indian authorities and ensure the safe repatriation of his body to India.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Sai Kiran, was pursuing his master’s degree in the US. He was shot by unidentified assailants during an incident of gun violence in a suburban area late Thursday night. Local police have launched an investigation but have not yet made any arrests.

Family members in Hyderabad were informed of the tragedy through the Indian Consulate. They have appealed for swift repatriation of the body and demanded a thorough probe into the killing. The student’s father said Sai Kiran had moved to the US earlier this year to pursue higher education and was known to be hardworking and ambitious.

The Telangana government has extended full support to the grieving family. Minister for NRI Affairs K.T. Rama Rao has directed officials to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Washington to expedite formalities. Efforts are underway to bring Sai Kiran’s mortal remains back to Hyderabad within the next few days.

The incident has reignited concerns about the safety of Indian students in the United States. In recent months, several cases of attacks, robberies, and shootings involving Indian nationals have been reported across different states.

Indian consular officials have urged students abroad to remain vigilant and stay updated on local safety advisories. Meanwhile, community organizations in the US have offered support to Sai Kiran’s family and pledged assistance with travel and funeral arrangements.

Authorities in both countries are expected to continue their cooperation to ensure justice and prevent such tragedies in the future.
