DJI Launches Mini 5 Pro Drone with 1-Inch 50MP Sensor and Advanced Safety Features

DJI has expanded its popular Mini series with the launch of the Mini 5 Pro, a lightweight drone under 250 grams that combines portability with professional-grade features. The new model introduces a 1-inch 50-megapixel CMOS sensor, improved obstacle detection, and extended flight capabilities, making it a significant upgrade for drone enthusiasts and content creators.

The standout feature is the upgraded camera system, which supports 4K HDR recording at 60 frames per second and slow-motion at up to 120 frames per second. With support for 10-bit D-Log M and HLG color profiles, the Mini 5 Pro delivers richer detail and greater flexibility in post-production. Its wider dynamic range is designed to handle high-contrast environments, while a new Med-Tele mode offers clearer subject isolation.

The drone also brings a redesigned gimbal system, offering 225° roll capability. This allows smooth transitions between horizontal and vertical shooting without quality loss, making it especially appealing for social media content creation.

On the safety front, the Mini 5 Pro features nightscape omnidirectional obstacle sensing, combining vision, infrared, and LiDAR technologies. This upgrade enhances flight safety in low-light conditions and supports more accurate Return-to-Home functions, even in areas with weak satellite signals.

Battery performance is another strong point. The Mini 5 Pro can fly for up to 36 minutes on a standard battery, with an extended-life battery option available in some regions. However, the higher-capacity unit may exceed the 250-gram classification in markets with strict drone regulations.

DJI has also focused on convenience, equipping the drone with 42GB of internal storage and support for multiple controller types, including the RC-N3 and RC 2. Buyers can also opt for Fly More bundles, which include ND filters, spare propellers, and additional batteries.

While the drone has been launched globally, its availability will vary by market. Some regions, including the United States, may not see immediate release. Pricing has been set competitively, positioning the Mini 5 Pro as a compact yet powerful option in DJI’s lineup.

With its blend of professional imaging, advanced safety, and lightweight design, the DJI Mini 5 Pro marks a significant step forward for compact drones, catering to both hobbyists and creators who want high-end performance in a portable package.
